Park City is known for its great ski resorts and winter fun. Sundance anyone?
But, did you know that Park City is equally amazing in the summer? Yes, it’s true! We had the opportunity to visit this summer for a couple of days. So much fun!
Four Awesome Reasons to go to Park City in the Summer!
1. Utah Olympic Park
Salt Lake City hosted the Olympics back in 2002. The facilities are still in use today, for training athletes and the general public can take part in training and fun. On weekends, there’s the Aerial Freestyle show, where freestyle snowboarders and skiers show off their tricks in an electrifying show. When we went, a 9-year-old and her 14-year-old brother showed off what they can do. In addition, you take a class to learn the same tricks OR you can do all kinds of outdoor activities from mild to wild and all places I between. For example, you can take a scenic lift where you can hike down or zipline down. There are ropes courses or you can tube down a ski run. Fun times were had by all!
2. Park Silly Market
Every Sunday in the summer, Historic Main Street runs a market. Everything from a farmer’s market to arts & crafts vendors, music, and food trucks. We started at the farmers market, where we picked up from apricots, blueberries, and raspberries. Lauren ate a whole pint of blueberries walking around! Then we ventured downhill to the arts & crafts vendors. It was busy and since the kids was getting a little hangry…we headed to the food trucks. The kiddos had yummy Nutella and banana crepes, while the parents had a Falafel pita and a Lobster Roll. Everything was super delicious!
3. Fourth of July Celebration
We happened to be there for the 4thof July. The day started off with a fun run and pancake breakfast, then down to Historic Main Street for the Parade. After the parade, we went to lunch at Vinto’s (wood-fired Pizza. Yum!!) then walked back to our condo. Everyone ended at City Park for softball and volleyball games. After a brief rest, we walked over to Park City Mountain Resort, which also has all kinds of fun activities. Alpine slide, ziplines, bungee jumps. But on the 4th, they also had bands playing. Fun times. For the fireworks, we just had to walk across the parking lot behind our condo to a park area. It was an amazing time especially for us coming from AZ where it is just TOO hot to do anything for the 4th!
4. Outdoor Fun
The weather was just perfect when we were there. We left 110’s so highs in the 70s and 80s felt sooo nice! In addition to Utah Olympic Park, the ski resorts offer all kinds of fun summer activities to entertain you. You can take the lifts up and hike down, mountain bike. Others have organized activities such as ziplines, climbing walls, and such. There are also a number of outfits in which you can go rafting, kayaking, or tubing. We did a ½ day white water rafting trip. It was pretty mild but just exciting enough. You can see all kinds of birds and other wildlife. If you have river experience and are older than 12, you can tube down the Weber River. That would be pretty intense.
So, there you are 4 Awesome Reasons to visit Park City in the Summer! We had an awesome time. Looking forward to checking it out in the Winter!
